weekly photo challenge: window

location: monet’s garden
i can’t imagine somebody living in a house without a window. a window can serve as an extension of the eyes as he or she views the world outside. without it, he or she must as well be blind.
this is part of monet’s house that i snapped last summer while visiting his garden in the village of giverny located in northern france. with a large window overlooking his beloved flowers, i figured it was the studio where he did his painting.
if i were wrong, can somebody please correct me?

You are correct, Plaridel, this was his studio. It is packed with canvasses now, and there is a photograph of what it looked like when he was working in it, hung on the wall as you go in.

ian:
thank you. i was able to get inside the house, but the studio wasn’t open to the public during my visit.

That looks like a very pretty window – not only does it admit a lot of light but it shows a beautiful view, too.

i think it was designed that way for maximum effect. monet knew what was best for him.
