Good Things Come in Small Sizes

I don’t think a woman can leave home without a handbag or a purse. It has become an indispensable item, serving both as a utility and fashion statement. It grows with her. as she gets older, the bigger the handbag becomes. As she progresses from one size of clothing to the next, the handbag follows suit, too. Perceptive marketers never lose sight of this phenomenon as they have started selling models equipped with rollers.

Anybody wondering what’s inside a woman’s purse? I do. If would be nice to know, but I don’t venture to ask. Haven’t you heard that curiosity killed the cat? And hey, that would also be uncivil.

Since I take the train to work every day, I can’t help but notice handbags and purses everywhere in various shapes and sizes with their proud owners enjoying the same attributes.

But it’s the little ones that catch my fancy all the time. Their owners are usually well dressed, cute, and nice to be close to in a crowded train because they smell good. As a commuter, I just wish we have more of their kind, especially in the summertime.

Would you believe, the smaller the purse a woman carries, the more my imagination becomes wild like that of teenager whose hormones are starting to kick in? What would fit in that small space? Must be something especial. Makeup accessories? Definitely. Cell phone? Sure. Breath freshener? Why not? Wallet? Yes. Keys? Yes. Feminine protection? Yes. Birth control pills? Maybe. Can of mace? But, of course, to ward off would be stalkers like me.

The bigger and bulkier bags don’t elicit the same excitement in me, though. Sometimes they can be irritating in a crowded train, especially if they hang like carcasses on women’s shoulders. But as long as they allow enough space for me to squeeze in and not miss the ride, I guess, that would be fine.
