Beloved

Spring is that time of the year when nature renews itself. What seems to be old and familiar becomes refreshed. Life goes on with a new perspective and discovery. If this poem speaks to you, then you understand how I feel at this moment. Dear one, I wrote it for you.

a trusted volume
that doesn’t stay languid
on the shelf and gather dust
that’s you, beloved

read cover to cover
i’d known you by heart
still, when i part the pages
you’d come fresh, the fireworks start

a companion on long hikes
and a pillow on my head
as i lay down on the grass to rest
that’s you, beloved

I’m not sure if the one you are talking to is already dead. I bloghopped and this is the 3rd poem I encountered. This is so sad.

      ilocanoak:

you’re so perceptive to notice the sadness behind the lines. the poem was inspired by emily bronte and the moors that she loved so well. i felt her spirit when i visited haworth, the place where she grew up and died, many moons ago.

truth to tell, it’s one of the easiest poem that i’d ever written. i guess that’s what happens when it comes straight from the heart.

not a bad choice. among the sisters, charlotte was the best writer. i like emily because she was the better poet.
