weekly photo challenge: solitary

in may 2011, i took this photo of a human statue located at the bottom of the steps leading to the medieval walls of obidos in portugal. he was dressed to look like charlie chaplain. he refused to have his picture taken and would turn his back to the camera if no money was offered as a token of appreciation. it must be his attitude or something. on this day, he felt so alone. with tourists meandering around, the red pan by his feet remained empty.
