weekly photo challenge: foreign

i took this shot while exploring downtown prague. it’s an effigy of a man who is down on his luck. at first glance, you may think he’s panhandling with an empty cup before him. but i believe he’s actually begging for another drink.

if beer and architecture are your thing, then prague is the right place for you.

beer is everywhere. it’s so popular that it’s even served at breakfast. well known cxech brands are pilsner urquell, staropramenand, radegast, and budweiser budvar. any connections between budweiser budvar and the american anheuser-busch budweiser? absolutely none. they actually sued each other in the past for the right to the budweiser trademark. the dispute was settled in 1938 that allowed anheuser-busch to use the budweiser trademark but only in north america.

prague’s architecture is a sight to behold. spared from the bombs of world war ii, it represents the best that europe can offer. romanesque. gothic. renaissance. baroque and recoco. classicism. neo renaissance. art noveau. cubism. socialist realism. post modern. you name it. you’d find it prague.

I can manage without the beer (most of the time), but Prague is indeed one of the world’s most beautiful cities. The Charles Bridge at dawn is one of the great visual images of my life,

czech beer is good, but our san miguel dark beer isn’t far behind. 🙂 fall is the best time to go to prague. there are fewer tourists and the weather is nice.

Prague is one of my dream destinations too. Architecture is a huge check for me. But for beer? Could we replace it with coke? haha Coke is my own addicting alcohol 🙂
