She’s Gone

Woe unto me, one of my favorite blogs is gone. I noticed it right away because I keep my list of favorites short. If you made my list, you must be really special. At least, to me, anyway. Well, she left before and then return in another incarnation. Who knows, she may come back again someday. But this time, I think, all bets are off. From the look of it, she has had enough.

Starting an online journal is like opening a box of chocolates. as forrest gump found out, you don’t know what you’re going to get. As you see, it’s not a perfect world out there. When you open up yourself, you attract all kinds. You attract the good, the bad, and the ugly and Clint Eastwood is too old to protect you.

Why take the risk then? Why write something about yourself and let people read your innermost thoughts? Some say to fill a need. To let off steam. To find a friend. To validate one’s existence. To change the world. Or to scratch an itch.

She was an original. She was popular. She was getting a lot of hits because her entries were well-written and never boring. Popularity wasn’t good enough incentive to go on, I guess. For sure, she made a lot of online friends. But she must have realized that online friends are just a little better than your childhood’s imaginary friends. They don’t last. They can disappear without a trace anytime.

Deleting your blog is like committing suicide. You end it when you want to get away from a situation and feel there’s no other way out. Or you end it because it has run its course. In her case, I hope the latter was true for she’s truly a great person and she deserves all the best wishes we can give.

I may not know her, but I felt sorry for her. Why delete? Why erase memories? šŸ˜¦ Though I share a similar experience. I’m following someone who wrote his last piece and told everyone that he’s starting a different blog without ever tellings us where ..

she must have kept a backup. it can be done easily by using the export option that allows you to download an xml file of all your posts, pages, comments, etc.
