weekly photo challenge: up

for this week’s challenge, i’d like to share this photo that i took somewhere in the prague neighborhood. it’s about laundry hanging out to dry. i confess it’s rather mundane. there must be better sights to consider on one of the most beautiful places on earth. i have my reasons which i will tell you later.

i love prague. if you visit the city for the first time, you’d strain your neck looking up. the best of european architecture, spared from the bombs of world war ii, are well-represented standing next to each other. some of them are even decorated with mysterious symbols that would delight a dan brown.

as you walk around, marveling at the sights, just a bit of advice. be on the lookout for pickpockets, too. they aren’t easy to identify as they blend well with the crowd. if you’re with a local guide, you’re in luck. it’s most likely that he or she can spot them and warn you of their presence.

so now… what’s so special about the above photo? i find it interesting because i do it myself. whenever i travel, i make it a point to travel light using only a carry on bag that converts into a backpack. since i don’t check it in, i make sure its weight don’t go beyond 20 pounds. it does come with a price. it means bringing fewer clothes and hand washing and hanging them to dry inside the bathroom or outside the window whenever possible. of course, boxer shorts nearing the end of their life are the exceptions.

if you’re interested to see more of prague, you can check the following sites:

A savvy traveler indeed. Thanks for the mini-trip to Prague. It sounds beautiful. And I love the laundry shot–very home-y. Laundry hung outside also smells delicious.

even at home i don’t use the drier much. i love the smell of sun-dried clothes. it’s good for the environment, too, if i may say. ๐Ÿ™‚

It is. Sad to say there are some place in the US where you’re not allowed to hang your clothes outside. :-/
