A Monk’s Skeleton More Bones on the Wall

In the 15th century, the Franciscan monks in Evora, Portugal built the Capela dos Ossos (Chapel of Bones). They used the skulls and bones of their departed brothers as well as those collected from local cemeteries to adorn its walls and pillars. It was to remind the visitors of the inevitability of death and to give the poorest of the poor the opportunity to be buried in a holy place.

The place was eerie cold. I still feel the jitters when i think about it.
