for friday fictioneers 100-word challenge 29 november 2013

jane had no plans for her birthday, but her friend else insisted that they celebrate after work.

when jane arrived at the ferry, she couldn’t find her friend.

“where’s else?” she wondered fully unaware of a pair of eyes watching her.

it was unusual for else to be late. she was always on time.

as jane was dialing else’s number, a figure in a devil’s mask slowly sneaked up behind her and yelled, “boo!”

for a moment, jane was paralyzed with fear.

“else, you scared the hell out of me,” she cried, regaining her composure. “don’t ever do that again!”

    Dear Plaridel,

She’s not to do it again, or else.

    Sandra’s comment is great.

    Aloha,

    Doug

    dear paridel,

i know that no caps is your style but in this case it made for confusion. it took me a few sentences to see else as a name or someone else. nothing like having a practical joker for a friend.

    shalom,

      rochelle:

it did come across my mind that the name could be mistaken for something else (no pun intended). maybe i should just retire it for good. πŸ™‚

I’m not too sure the masked person IS Else. Wouldn’t it be fun if he/she wasn’t!
