iguazu falls

when my mom came to america for a visit, i took her to the niagara falls in upstate new york. she was overwhelmed. she had not seen so much water thundering down at the rate of as much as 600,000 gallons per second. when we saw people walking under the falls, i asked her if she would like to do it, too. only if i would, she said. and so we went. it was a memorable experience for both of us.

magnificent the niagara falls may be, it pales in comparison to the iguazu falls as pictured above. considered as one of the new seven natural wonders of the world, it’s located on the border of brazil and argentina. it’s about 270 feet high and more than two miles wide.

one is filled with a sense of awe and wonder witnessing this massive volume of water as it roars, rushes, and spills over the falls. it’s said that, depending on the time of the year, you can view up to 300 individual falls. you must be there to really appreciate its power and beauty.
