for friday fictioneers 100-word challenge 13 december 2013

you may think a pair of boots doesn’t have feelings, but it does. roy hardly notices me anymore. since he got a new pair from his wife hannah, i feel abandoned and betrayed. it doesn’t help that i belong to the past that hannah wants him to forget.

this morning, roy took me for a walk to the farmers’ market. it turned out to be our last. i showed him i may be getting old, but i still look great on his feet. it was all in vain. he has agreed with hannah to donate me to the salvation army.

Oh dear. Now I’m looking at my old left boot in the closet with a flapping sole making a face at me. Thanks for the imagery ๐Ÿ™‚

I don’t need any encouragement to engage in anthropomorphising. Nice take on the prompt.

I can even feel compassion for a pair of old boots…the way you write about them.
