these photos were taken last summer during the 115th philippine independece day celebration held at the national basilica of the sacred heart park in koekelberg, brussels.
it was my first time to visit belgium. i was surprised to meet a large number of filipinos living and working in the country, many of whom, have already become belgian citizens.
organized by the local chapter of the knights of rizal in conjunction with the philippine embassy, an event such as this reconnects the filipinos with their roots and helps ease the pain of being far away from home.
