If you love to hike like I do, I suggest that you visit the Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia. You’ll be amply rewarded for it. It’s a hiker’s paradise offering many trails that engage the senses all at once. Every scenery is breathtaking especially when viewed from the top. It’s indeed one of the most beautiful places that I’ve seen or will ever see in this lifetime.

The park covers 185 square miles and is situated in a deep woodland between mountains populated by varieties of trees and vegetation. It features 12 Upper lakes and four lower lakes inter-connected by waterfalls descending from as high as 2,085 feet. It’s also home to several species of birds and animals. If the garden of eden does exist, this must be it.

I love hiking myself…I like the calm and walking through the green all around..So soothing and not to forget the ‘Reward’ of course, when you reach the place you were hiking to.
The photos are breathtakingly beautiful. No wonder your reward was worth it. Spectacular Plaridel !

Lovely photos. Croatia certainly sounds beautiful. It’s also become a very popular destination for ‘us Brits’ in recent years. My husband and I have considered it a few times now. That particular national park you show does sound wonderful. Perhaps we’ll take a look sometime soon … Thank you for sharing this. ๐Ÿ™‚

croatia is indeed beautiful. i met some italians in rab island, croatia, and they said that’s the place they go when tourists invade their country.

It’s a sad thing about the tourist industry that. although it brings the necessary money/wealth to the country concerned, the local people suffer. In many places, tourists just aren’t welcomed – no matter how well behaved they are. It’s just the sheer numbers that locals hate. It’s not the case everywhere, of course. I’d love to see Croatia. Your post convinced me of that. ๐Ÿ™‚

it’s not only locals that complain but other tourists as well. crowded streets and long lines don’t make a memorable vacation. if you’ve been to venice in the middle of summer, for example, you’d know what i mean.

I agree with what you say, Plaridel. Our insatiable desire to visit all these lovely places causes a heck of a lot of problems. I’ve yet to vist Venice, but that’s on the cards, too.

as the famous traveler, rick steves always says, “travel, like the world is a series of hills and valleys. be fanatically positive and militantly optimistic. it somethng’s not to your liking, change your liking.”
