A Dying Wish

For Friday Fictioneers 100-Word Challenge: 11 September 2015

Note: Just got back from vacation. I went to Scotland and enjoyed it very much. It’s such a beautiful country. Darn, reality is starting to sink in. Anyway, this is my contribution for this week. If it’s a little lame, you can blame it on the jet lag. 🙂

As she lay sunbathing on the beach, Rebecca pondered at Darren’s dying wish.

Of course, she knew he didn’t have cancer. It was a lie. It was just a ploy to pressure her into going along with it.

The mere thought of it made Rebecca squirm. It was against her values. At the same time, she loved Darren so much she found herself helpless to resist.

Darren approached, sat beside her, and looked at her with pleading eyes.

“So?” he asked with bated breath.

Ok, Darren,” Rebecca said, exasperated. “You’ve won. You can wear my clothes.”

“Awesome! Thanks, big sis.”

thanks. sometimes the mind works in mysterious ways. when I looked at this week’s prompt, it reminded me of the beach, kendall jennner frolicking in mexico with her boyfriend and her father turning into a woman. that’s how I came up with the story. 🙂

    Dear Plaridel,

I was just thinking about you yesterday. It’s good to see you back. Quite the surprise ending that left me shaking my head.

A couple of grammar issues: “…made Rebecca squirmed..”.take off the ‘ed’
and “Rebecca saw Darren approached, sat beside her….”one suggestion: Rebecca saw Darren approach, sit beside her…or stronger (since we know it’s Rebecca who’s seeing) “Darren approached, sat beside her and looked…”

In the end it’s your decision. Aside from those nitpicks I didn’t find your story lame. Glad you’re back.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle
