Mr. Scott was busy removing the Christmas decorations from his coffee shop when he overheard a mother and daughter talking outside.
“I want that one,” the little girl said pointing to the doll on the window display.
“Honey, it’s not for sale and we can’t afford it anyway.”
The doll had long hair, brown eyes, and freckles on her face. During holidays past, it had earned its keep attracting customers. But it had yet to fulfill its destiny as a toy.
“Mama’s right, it’s not for sale,” Mr. Scott said as he approached them. “You can have it for free.”

My grandfather’s last name was Scott. He loved children. I could just see him doing something like this too. Thanks for bringing a memory of him back for the holidays.
