The Old Clunker

For Friday Fictioneers 100-Word Challenge: 26 February 2016
“Ethel, it’s time to sell that old clunker gathering dust in the garage,” Jason said. “I need space for my Harley.”
Jason was the son-in-law who moved in to the house with her daughter after her husband passed away.
At first, Ethel thought it was a good idea. Jason was unemployed. She could help them get back on their feet while they kept her company.
Last night, Ethel overheard the son-in-law and daughter talking about selling the house so they could buy a camper.
Late in the afternoon the following day, Ethel went out to gather wild mushrooms for dinner.

I love Ethel… and not just because she visited MY story as well!
When will today’s “youtes” stop underestimating the older folks?

What a twist. We have a kindly, lonely widow at the becoming and a potential murderess at the end. And everyone will think it’s accidental. All she has to do is take a tiny bite herself. Perhaps she just went over the edge. Well done, Plaridel. — Suzanne

out of her kindness, they still wanted to take advantage of her. I think they deserved a second helping of the mushroom soup for good measure.
