For Friday Fictioneers 100-Word Challenge: 15 April 2016
Itβs springtime once again. It’s that time of the year when nature renews itself. What seems to be old and familiar becomes refreshed. Life goes on with a new perspective and discovery. Dear One, I wrote this poem for you.
a trusted volume
that doesn’t stay languid
on the shelf and gather dust
that’s you, beloved
read cover to cover
i’d known you by heart
still, when i part the pages
you’d come fresh, the fireworks start
a companion on long hikes
and a pillow on my head
as i lay down on the grass to rest
that’s you, beloved

I enjoyed this..but did you mean languish rather than languid?
2.
plaridel | April 13, 2016 at 2:06 pm
lelia:
i think ‘languish’ will work, too. i chose ‘languid’ because it sounded better in my ear. well, at least for a non-native english speaker like me. π

What a lovely little poem! bordering on sappy but not so much that it didn’t make it immensely enjoyable. βΊ
