Weekly Photo Challenge: Earth

Location: Lauterbrunnen Valley, Switzerland
I’ve been to many places in the world, but the Alps hold a special place for me. While many are attracted to the beach and the sea, I’m more of an earth person.
I love to hike. I’m drawn to the mountains and the spectacular views that they provide. Funny, but it could be attributed to my Neanderthal ancestry. According to a recent DNA test, it’s measured at 3.2% which ranks in the 99th percentile among the population tested.
Hiking is one of the simplest of pleasures. It shouldn’t be intimidating in the least.
Perhaps this poem by Yang Sa-eon (1517-1584) that I saw at the Korean exhibit in the National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C. can inspire you:
The mountain may be high,
But it is still below heaven.
Climb and climb again;
Everyone can reach the summit.
Only the man who never tried
Insists the mountain is high.
I think the best strategy is to choose a trail that you’re comfortable with and start walking putting one foot in front of the other. You’d find the journey is its own reward.

Thank you for linking to my post!
I also appreciate a hike with a beautiful view – or just beautiful views in general.
