Weekly Photo Challenge: Textures

Mushrooms

Location: Sofia, Bulgaria

After checking in at our hotel in Sofia early that afternoon, I decided to visit the nearby park to get a feel for the place. While walking around, I saw something that appeared to be a cluster of horse’s poop. When I got closer, I found them to be wild mushrooms.

Back home, it would appear so familiar to elicit much interest. But in that moment, I felt it offered more. Its color and texture filled my senses with something beautiful and delightful that I immediately grabbed my pocket camera and took a picture.

It’s what traveling to places that you’d never been before gives you. It has the power to transform. It can change your perspective making even the most mundane look special.

I agree. I often think the shots I take while traveling I’d ignore at home! Good post!

You’re so right! Sometimes I try to look at my ordinary neighborhood the way a tourist might see it. Those mushrooms look lovely!
