For Friday Fictioneers 100-Word Challenge: 15 December 2017

Zara found herself in danger of becoming a sex slave when ISIS overran their village. This led her brother Jiwan to escort her to the Syrian border to save her.
With the border in sight, they made a dash for it. Fear never crossed her mind even when shots rang out. She felt safe beside her brother who protected her since they were young.
Suddenly, Jiwan fell, fatally shot.
“Jiwan!” she cried.
“Go,” she remembered him saying, blood coming out of his mouth.
“But Jiwan.”
“Go… Go…”
Zara survived and later joined an all-women volunteer force to fight the invaders.

While I admire the courage of your heroine, I think she is completely wrong. Wars will continue and become more destructive for as long as people are prepared to pick up weapons and fight. The whole mindset has to change.

I really don’t like having to “like” such a real, happening right now story. But you told it so well that I “liked” it for that. The story itself breaks my heart. So many young women do not survive

A powerfully told story, it take the reader into a world full of pain and sadness. Guns bring evil when-ever they are used.
