“Isn’t it pretty?” The salesman said as Emily tried the ring on her finger.
“It’s one of a kind, too.”
Nathan thought it would be a nice Christmas present. But times were hard. As a struggling writer, he could barely pay the rent.
He ended up giving her a knitted hat.
“It’s lovely,” Emily said when she opened the box. “It’ll come in handy in the snow.”
“I wish I could have bought you the ring instead,” Nathan said, still feeling sorry for himself.
“Enough of the drama,” Emily said. “Bebe, what’s important is you keeping me warm this winter.”

I suppose body heat would be good for that. Just a thought.

Dear Plaridel,
She sounds like a keeper. It’s not about how much he can buy for her. Good one.
Shalom,
Rochelle

What’s she thinking by hooking up with a writer? They don’t call them starving artists for nothing. 🙂
Beautifully written, Plaridel.
