What Does This Dream Mean?

Snoopy Driving a Car

Snoopy – Charles Schulz

Last night, I had this nightmare again.

It was early evening. I was in the driver’s seat of my old yellow Volkswagen bug donated to charity many years ago. I turned on the key and put the car into reverse. While getting out of the garage, I found my eyes shut tight and I couldn’t open them.

Afraid of crashing into something or being hit by another car, I tried to stop the car. Frantically, I stepped on the brakes. It didn’t work. I tried shifting gears. It didn’t work either. The car just kept going down the hill.

Suddenly, I could open my eyes again. I was on the highway leading to my hometown in the Philippines . From that point on, I was able to drive normally.

I wonder what this dream is all about?

Usually, I have the ability to control my dreams, but I’m helpless on this one. Does it portend the future? What does driving with my eyes shut indicate? Does it mean that when faced with uncertainties I should let go of fear and learn to trust in a power beyond myself?

The fact that the ordeal, no matter how traumatic, ended without incident seems to point to that conclusion. When I couldn’t see, an invisible hand came to my rescue and kept me from harm.

That’s a really interesting dream! Makes me wonder if you’re facing a decision or undertaking that has you worried?

I wouldn’t want to say what it means, but certainly the ending can be a comfort to you. You many not be able to see the outcome when you start out but things turn out all right for you. Which is how life often is.
This may not have any particular meaning, but I hope you can find some peace about it.

yes, it could be that even though i’m in the dark of what’s before me, i should keep the faith everything would be alright.

It could also be a reminder that i’d been gone for so long, it’s time to go home for a visit. 🙂

Leave the past behind. This is where you are now. Fear blinds, even when there is nothing tangible of concern to life and limb. Be where you are now and move into the …

Thanks for sharing that personal dream, Plaridel. Kind of sounds to me like, metaphorically, a part of you feels you’re powerless right now (eyes shut, can’t stop the car no matter what you try) and, maybe, headed metaphorically in the wrong direction without control. It seems very important to me that you saw your hometown and all was well again. Not to pry into your life, so I’ll just leave this as a few questions for you to answer in your own mind: are you thinking of returning home? Does someone (or lots of someones!) miss you in the Philippines (and/or do you miss them)? Are you feeling guilty, sad, etc. about not being back home in the Philippines? (Again, these are rhetorical; please don’t feel you have to answer them in this forum!) My thought is that although dreams are allegorical and metaphorical, they can definitely point to real-world concerns. Good luck & best wishes with all that you do, on whatever path!

It might be meaning that you walk on a meaningless way of life, either you have achieved your goal, now you got nothing to look forward to anymore…

If you dream of candy or chocolate, that means something sweet will happen soon or in near future…
