As a young widow, she raised her children the best way she could.

She said she worked the night shift at the local hospital. He believed it even though she dressed up and put on makeup for work.

After being drafted in the NBA, the first thing he did was buy her a house which made her cry.

“Does it mean I can retire, too?” she asked.

“Yes, Mama, it’s time to soak it in.”

On her funeral, she was a mere shell of the woman she used to be. But in his eyes, she remained as beautiful as ever.

Oh, I love this. The give and take between mother and son. And what DID she actually give? Nicely done.

    Dear Plaridel,

Such a touching story. Glad the son understood and appreciated her sacrifice no matter what her true profession. Well done.

I’m glad he remembered his Mum after he made it big (I don’t know what “NBA” is but am assuming it’s some sort of sports thing?), and got her off the streets.

Awwe, what a sweet tale of love between a mother and her son. I loved how you indicated at her real profession without making it obvious.

I know women who dress up and put makeup on before going to work in a chicken plant, but evidently this lady was working in the “oldest profession.” Still, she did what she had too to provide for her children.

under the circumstances, she didn’t have any other choice. she could be compared to fantine in les misérable.
