For Friday Fictioneers 100-Word Challenge: 16 March 2018

It was the final scene in the remake of Sleeping Beauty. Everybody was tired and anxious to go home.

“Lights, Camera, Action!“

The dashing prince approached and leaned to kiss the sleeping princess, but before he could do it, she stirred and looked stunned.

“Cut!” The director yelled visibly upset. “C’mon guys! Let’s do this right!”

On the second try, the kiss was consummated. But instead of waking up, she fainted.

Several attempts later, a member of the crew figured out the problem. She gave the prince peppermint gum, and to everybody’s relief, the scene was finally in the can.

One would think the actor would know the importance of fresh breath! Though I was watching some show where the actress told the tale that her male lead would purposefully each nasty stuff just before a kissing scene…

Ha! Ha! Nice one. According to gossip mags some prominent Hollywood stars not only have bad breath but also bad body odour that makes it tough on the co-stars. Thankfully 4-D movies have not yet caught on.

    Dear Plaridel,

Nothing worse than kissing someone with a bad breath. I read somewhere that Vivian Leigh didn’t like doing kissing scenes with Clark Gable for that very reason. Nicely done.

    Shalom,
