“Olivia has a crush on you,” Derrick whispered during our junior high night out at the amusement park.

“Really?”

“I bet my life on it.”

I asked Olivia to ride the Ferris Wheel with me and she accepted.

As we went round and round, I was in heaven feeling her close and smelling her perfume.

“Wo wo wo! What do you think youโ€™re doing? she cried out when I tried to kiss her.

“I thought…”

“You thought wrong.”

Derrick was laughing as he watched the drama unfolding from below.

I had been set up and fell for it big time.

Nasty Derrick. And now he’s stuck up there with her (and she with him) until the ride finishes.

That was a mean thing to do to his friend. Poor guy. Hope she changes her mind about him.

Nice layered story. You had me wondering about the relationships between the three students, what had gone before, and what might come after. Do you know, I think the narrator might have a chance with Olivia if he plays his cards properly? After all, it’s agreeably flattering when somebody finds you attractive.

I agree with what Penny said, if he apologizes charmingly and behaves well, he still may be on Olivia’s good side. But he better get rid of that nasty friend.

    Very well written!

Dirty Derrick. But let’s play this out. It’s really Derrick who likes Olivia, and he’s trying to make his buddy look bad. But the buddy apologizes like a man, and explains that one of his “friends” told him Olivia liked him. She’s thoughtful. Then she sees the smirk on Derrick’s face, and takes Buddy’s arm and walks away with him–toward the Tunnel of Love ๐Ÿ™‚
