For Friday Fictioneers 100-Word Challenge: 8 November 2019

Kyle came home late from the office looking real tired and hungry. By then, Ellen had gone to work the evening shift at the hospital.

“Oh dear!” he sighed seeing the dirty dishes in the sink.

Early in their relationship, he and Ellen had agreed that whoever cooked didn’t have to do the dishes. Since Ellen did the cooking, Kyle knew he was it.

As he warmed his food, Kyle took a second look at the pile seemingly begging for attention. Realizing that it wasn’t high enough, he ate his dinner in peace. For sure, it could wait another day.

Ick. There’s nothing worse than waking up to a sink full of dirty dishes, smelly and vile.

Kyle is being lazy. Next day there may not be any dinner but dishes will remain on the pile.

    Dear Plaridel,

Apparently dishes on high on either or their priority lists. πŸ˜‰ Why does this sound all to real and familiar?

Dishes seem to be a universal bone of family contention. We can send a person to the moon but we can’t solve the issue of dirty dishes??? Good story with a battle on the horizon πŸ™‚
