Ashley was cleaning out her dorm when her best friend stopped by.
“We’re having a spring break party at the diner,” she said. “I want you to come.”
“I thought we’re told to practice social distancing.”
“Don’t be a party pooper. This pandemic can’t stop us from partying.”
Reluctantly, Ashley joined and didn’t regret it. She had a lot of fun.
Upon arriving home, Ashley was excited to see her grandmother again. “I miss you, Nana,” she said and gave her a big hug.
A few days later, Nana was rushed to the hospital when she started developing pneumonia-like symptoms.

And there’s the rub…. the younger generation don’t take this seriously and are the cause of much of the spread.

A timely cautionary tale. The point of isolating ourselves is largely to protect others

that’s the point that some are missing. if we don’t come together, our health system will be overwhelmed and many will die.

A chilling and realistic portrayal of current events. The incubation stage is 14-27 days. There is a case about 20 miles from here. The woman has not traveled, so her case is being called community contracted. She estimates her “close circle of friends” at 50.

UGH. weeks/months of enforced isolation is going to be emotionally devastating for many economically disastrous for all (except the 1% of course)

Dear Plaridel,
A very timely piece. This is a great time to catch up on reading, writing and painting, isn’t it? Stay safe and well.
Shalom,
Rochelle

I do believe so many young people “don’t get it.” You captured that so well in 100-words.

sadly, some folks completely disregard the possibility that their reckless behaviour are putting the most vulnerable at risk.

It’s our elderly relatives we need to protect, even if we’re not so worried about ourselves.

A cautionary tale, Plaridel. You’re spot-on; a lot of people simply can’t imagine the consequences of their actions, even when they’ve been told repeatedly.

Chilling. I’ve heard parents are struggling with their teens who want to go out.

But since Nana was a wise old girl, she’d kept herself strong and healthy. She recovered and lived many more years. Ashley eventually got over the guilt, and decided it was time to be a responsible adult 🙂

At first the authorities painted a too optimistic picture about younger individuals not needing to worry, that was a mistake. Your story put the record right, well done
