Jonathan went to watch his little sister performed in a play and found himself seated next to a gorgeous girl.

He smiled at her when their eyes met. She smiled back.

“I’m Jonathan.”

“I’m Delores.”

“Quite an unusual name.”

“You’re telling me.”

“How about giving me your phone number? Maybe we can have coffee sometime.”

“Sure.”

On the subway home, Jonathan couldn’t take Delores out of his mind.

“The horoscope was right,” he thought. “I’d meet someone special today.”

Right after dinner, he gave her a call, eager to hear her voice again.

“Delores?“

“Sorry, you’ve reached the wrong number.“

No there’s a question. Did Delores dupe him? Or did she let him down kindly?

Now the question is, did she do it on purpose. The path of true love never does run smoothly.

I thought a man’s voice would answer the phone. Why bother to give him the # if it was a dead-end? Just say no thanks. I feel bad for your MC.

The horoscope didn’t say ‘you will meet someone today and be with them forever’. Nice, little sweet story.
