Live to Eat

For Friday Fictioneers 100-Word Challenge: 9 April 2021

Andre lived by the dictum, “Live to Eat“ as opposed to, “Eat to Live.”

To him, everything was fair game including bugs, frogs, rats, bats, cats, dogs, reptiles, and monkeys, as long as they could be boiled, fried or broiled.

It wasn’t surprising that wherever he traveled, Andre always visited the local wet market to see what it had to offer. If that wasn’t enough to satisfy his bizarre appetite, he’d risk going to more exotic places even where the cannibals lived.

Sadly, it was during one of those forays that Andre never returned and ended up being food himself.

Yes, the Chinese along with all of the oriental countries need to completely change the way they consume everything in sight. They alone are responsible for more than half the extinctions on the planet. Good story, well done.

Is that why we say, “you are what you eat.”? or is that, “you are eaten by what you are.” ? Delightful story! lol
