The Shrug

Mark rushed to the subway station hoping he’d make it to the 6:00 train. Fat chance. As he was descending down the stairs, its doors closed and started to leave.

Haley was at the platform obviously missing it, too. When she saw him coming, she shrugged and waved with a look of resignation in her eyes.

The usually shy Mark returned her shrug and waved back to his high school crush. It was a moment when suddenly he felt as if the stars had converged and the planets aligned. From then on, things would never be the same between them.

I got the idea by seeing in the photo prompt what looked like a subway station with people in line waiting for the train. πŸ™‚
