For Friday Fictioneers 100-Word Challenge: 25 March 2022

When mom and dad decided to go to Ephesus, Ariel wasn’t enthused. Ancient ruins didn’t excite him. He’d rather go to the beach instead.

His attitude took a different turn when he met Laila, the new girl in school, who loved Indiana Jones and dreamed of becoming an archaeologist. Long story short, he fell for her like no other girl he’d met before.

When he mentioned that he had visited the ruins of Ephesus, Laila was impressed. “I wish I could go there someday too,” she said.

From then on, Ariel couldn’t wait for the planned family trip to Pompeii.

You just have to find the ‘hook’. And he’s found it. Now he needs to reel her in.

    Dear Plaridel,

Funny how love can put a whole new spin on things. Perhaps Laila will accompany him on the next family trip. 😉 Well done.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

I think he found a new way to enjoy places he doesn’t want to go to.
I’m sure if he had to travel again he’d want Laila to come along. Young love … very nice story, Plaridel. I enjoyed reading.

PS: my daughter’s name is Kaila, my niece is Ariel. Funny!!!

Nicely told story of the power of young love to motivate. I like that you tell it with wry humour, which stops it from being too sweet.
