When Ryan learned that Billy got sick of Covid and had to be hospitalized, he wasn’t sure how to react. Should he take pleasure in the fact or take pity on him?

“I know that you don’t see each other eye to eye,” his mother said. “He bullies you to no end and makes fun of you. But it’s only being Christian that you wish him well.”

“Here’s a get-well card. Write something that will make him feel good. Make sure to give it an optimistic bent.”

“Dear Billy,” Ryan wrote aiming not to disappoint his mom. “Just stay positive.”

He did do what his mother wanted. LOL
Cute ending and well-played on Ryan’s part.

Not a bad solution. He pleases everyone that way. Nice little snapshot of human nature in this.

Ryan’s bruised ego isn’t ready to be forgiving and selfless just yet, methinks. Maybe Billy’s brush with death will make him a kinder and gentler human being without Ryan’s benevolence?

Great humour. I wonder how much agonising thought went into Billy’s search for a positive phrase that would satisfy his mum, without committing him too much to an unwanted friendship?
