For Friday Fictioneers 100-Word Challenge: 25 November 2022

It was early morning when the tour group arrived in the Doolin village. The plan was to hike the Cliffs of Moher.

Knowing his fear of heights, Erin gave her boyfriend a choice.

“You can join us or stay in one of the pubs until we come back,” she said.

Not wanting to be left alone, Jason summoned his courage and decided to go with them.

Panting for breath on occasion and slipping twice on muddy slopes, he finally made it to the top.

“You did it,” Erin said.

“Just barely.”

“Next time, we’ll go skydiving.”

“Don’t push your luck.”

Jason is not the adventurous kind, perhaps he needs a more homely girlfriend as Erin will challenge him beyond his capabilities.

That’s the trouble with friends. Always moving the goalposts.

I live near an almost identical cliff with a similar path. I climbed it often, more slowly each time! Now I stick to the pub!

    Dear Plaridel,

I share Jason’s fear of heights. I commend him for making the climb.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

PS A little grammatical correction. I think it should be “Erin gave HER boyfriend…” πŸ˜‰ Aside from that, a good one.

thanks for reading as usual and pointing to a grammatical error. corrected as we speak. sigh, in my native language, pronoun referring to either sex is the same. i just need to be careful when i write in english. πŸ™‚

I’ve been to the Cliffs of Mohar, and I was well away from the edge, as my knees were a bit wobbly, while other visitors sat on the edge to get a selfie. I didn’t know there was an option to climb up, maybe that was for the sake of your story. Well told!
