Since her family moved to Brooklyn, the village where she was born and raised is still much on her mind.
Layla finds solace in reliving bits and pieces of the village in the neighborhood she now calls home.
Street art on the wall of an abandoned building has become a metaphor for wildflowers she remembers as a kid. Like wildflowers, it grows and thrives in unexpected places, transforming the urban landscape with its vibrant colors.
It may take a while before Layla can fully adjust to the new environment. With a steely determination, however, she knows it will eventually happen.

You have described the emotional shift of moving from the colourful country to a dull city, with only the painting of a reminder of what is missing.

With a painting like the one in the photo, itโs easy to get โback to natureโ even on a busy street.
