Long before it became a quarry, it was a lush vegetation filled with wild berries. It was here that human evolution began.

After the fall, Adam and Eve discovered hominin species other than their own existed.

Adam’s first encounter was with a female he met while foraging for food. She had bushy hair, short limbs, and stocky body. When their eyes met and locked, it was apparent she was in heat and needed relief. Adam felt obliged to help her.

“Where have you been?” A pregnant Eve confronted Adam who came home late, empty handed.

“Nag, nag, nag!” he grumbled.

Feeling nostalgic about the good old days, Eve sneaked into the Garden of Eden while Adam was away hunting for food.

As she walked around their former abode, it seemed like they hadn’t left. It remained a paradise. Nothing much had changed except that it didn’t make her feel welcome.

No creature in the water, on the land and in the air came to greet her. They went about their business and completely ignored her.

The Garden of Eden was home but it wasn’t home anymore. Feeling the firstborn in her womb, Eve left and vowed never to return again.

As night approached, Adam and Eve found refuge under the bridge to protect them from the winter cold.

Shivering in the dark, Eve started to cry feeling sorry for their circumstances.

“It was my fault for getting us kicked out from the shelter. I shouldn‘t have eaten an apple without permission.”

“It’s all in the past,” Adam said trying to comfort her. “As long as we have each other, we’ll do fine.”

Adam cuddled and kissed her. Then one thing led to another until it happened. For one brief moment, they experienced peace and everything was alright with the world.

Evicted from the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve faced more challenges than they could ever imagine.

Far from the ideal place they used to know, they now found themselves living in a world filled with danger and uncertainties.

Emerging from the woods, they had just outrun a pack of wolves eager to eat them alive.

Hungry and tired, they rested under a tree and gazed at the immense savanna before them.

“Omigosh, you’re so naked!” Eve exclaimed as she looked at Adam sweating profusely in the summer heat.

“Look who’s talking,” he replied. “Let’s go find some fig leaves.”

Forbidden Fruit

For Friday Fictioneers 100-Word Challenge: 20 October 2017

Note: It’s time for me to recharge and take that much-needed vacation. As a result, I’ll be missing in action and not posting and blogging for a few weeks. I will be back sometime in December.

Before Apple became a name brand, it was the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden.

One day, the serpent descended from the tree and talked Eve into taking a bite.

“What have you done?” Adam cried out upon seeing her partake of the apple.

“I dare that you do the same,” Eve retorted.

When Adam hesitated, she became more persistent.

“Just do it!”

“Yes, dear,” Adam finally relented with those now famous words. He thought it was smart to eat it all to hide the evidence, but it proved futile against the all-knowing God.

And the rest was history.
