She’s Gone

Woe unto me, one of my favorite blogs is gone. I noticed it right away because I keep my list of favorites short. If you made my list, you must be really special. At least, to me, anyway. Well, she left before and then return in another incarnation. Who knows, she may come back again someday. But this time, I think, all bets are off. From the look of it, she has had enough.

Starting an online journal is like opening a box of chocolates. as forrest gump found out, you don’t know what you’re going to get. As you see, it’s not a perfect world out there. When you open up yourself, you attract all kinds. You attract the good, the bad, and the ugly and Clint Eastwood is too old to protect you.

a gif that keeps on giving

a picture is worth a thousand words.

it’s a saying that you must have heard before, coming especially from those who were born to point and shoot.

but it’s so true. a blog without pictures is like reading the kama sutra without illustrations. when everything is left to the imagination, it feels more like your parents teaching you about the birds and the bees. you end up more confused than you were before.

somebody took notice – a liebster award

i don’t know what i’ve done to merit this award from lj, but i humbly accept it. unfortunately, i have to break one of its rules: come up with 11 questions that i want 11 persons, whom i will nominate, to answer.

in deference to the spirit of the holiday season, this chain stops with me. i can’t put anybody else on the spot and add to his or her level of stress at this time of the year when everybody should be merry and have fun.

we blog therefore we are. a blog is the modern version of emily dickinson’s letter to the world. to some of us, it has become a medium for expressing the other part of us. it’s the private one that we keep away from family and friends for fear of being misunderstood. through our blog, we write our thoughts like a prisoner tapping the wall hoping that there’s someone else on the other side. oftentimes, our words are met with silence. but sometimes, we find a connection. somebody reads our post, then another, and another, until the chain grows and achieves a life of its own.

eva dien brine marvoort (1984-2010) was in the advance stage of cystic fibrosis when she started her blog in 2006. she named it 65 red roses after ’65 roses’ which is how children who have the disease are taught to say it because the words are much easier for them to pronounce.

blogging is what we make it

charlie brown and snoopy – charles schulz

“There are 13,268,612 sites with a better three-month global Alexa traffic rank than”

as if to confirm alexa’s ranking, google gives this blog a 1 point rating on a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being the best). if you’re interested in finding how your own blog stacks up, click here.

wow, it’s a personal best for me. with over a hundred million blogs in existence today, i’d gladly take either ranking. when i started this blog in wordpress in 2009, i wasn’t sure of its eventual fate. the hope of surviving in the already crowded blogosphere was almost nil. fast forward 2012. i’m still here. i’ve made it this far with almost 200 posts under my belt. ain’t it something?
