Weekly Photo Challenge: Twisted

I found this tree when we visited the ancient Greek city of Paestum in Southern Italy. It didn’t appear to have aged gracefully suffering from fate’s twists and turns.
Could it be as old as the nearby ruins dating as far back as 450 BC? I don’t think so, but all was well. Its location gave it an opportunity to stand out and be noticed. Besides, it did provide a nice shade to rest under on a hot and sunny day.
