weekly photo challenge: changing seasons

click any picture to enlarge
these pictures were from the galápagos islands trip in ecuador.

the galápagos islands have two seasons only. one is the garúa season or dry season that occurs from June to November. the other is the wet or rainy season that occurs from December to May.

since the islands enjoy a mild climate all year round, the passing of one season to another is indicated not by a change in temperature but rather by the amount of precipitation and cloud formation. diminishing rains and cloudy skies make up the garúa season while frequent rains and blue skies typify the wet season.

the pictures were taken one late october with my trusty canon pocket digital camera. as the garúa season was ending, you could see the wet season with its blue skies peeking out behind the clouds.
