Think Globally, Suffer Environmentally

Global warming has been with us since the end of the last ice age 10,000 years ago. It has remained unnoticed until Al Gore (remember him?) won and then lost his 2000 presidential bid due to a technicality. Suddenly, he found himself with nothing to do. With too much time on his hands, Mr. Gore decided to become the leading spokesman for global warming rather than fade gracefully in history. In so doing, he won the Nobel Peace prize in 2007.

Hold Your Water
I think it was during the time of Noah that water on this planet was so plentiful that he built an ark. It was the biggest cruise ship in human history complete with animals to entertain his relatives and friends. But the fun didn’t last. While navigating around Mt. Ararat, water started to subside. Lands started to appear. They had to abandon ship. The environmentalists of the day, including Al Gore’s ancestors, attributed it to global warming. Yes dear, there was global warming even then. After all, we live in the same planet.

Some Like It Hot

Televangelists must be rejoicing at the current state of the weather.

I woke up at 6:30 this morning to the hum of the electric fan over my head. It was on all night. With this year’s record heat hovering around much of the country, it offered no relief at all, even when the last vestige of modesty was cast aside.

The Issue With Bottled Water

Al Gore – LIFE photo
It seems that nowadays you can’t go wrong when you speak about global warming. Mr. Al Gore, the man who was elected president but never served due to technicalities, redeemed himself by being the leading spokesperson on global warming. According to Mr. Gore, the problem is “us” and he has the backings of many scientists.

Live Simply

Live Simply
Location: San Francisco, California
Summer is a time to let go and be free and be yourself. It’s a time to take time off from work and enjoy nature. The sunny beaches. The parks. The lakes. The green forests. Oh, it feels good just to think about it. It’s unfortunate that summer has its bad side. It’s also a time when we put a lot of strain in the environment.

In the first place, It seems that the best stuff that nature can offer are usually far from where we live. This requires us to drive and consume gas and contribute to global warming. And when we arrive there, what do we do? We make our presence felt by polluting the place. For instance, we celebrate the outdoor by cooking barbecues with charcoal which contaminates the air by releasing hydrocarbons and tiny soot particles to whoever can breathe them.
