Italian Crostini

Crostini are small slices of crisp and crunchy bread served as part of a meal. In Italian, it means “little toasts” and usually topped with cheese, nuts, vegetables and even meats.

During our trip to Italy, we had the pleasure of visiting a family in Montone where we spent part of afternoon with the owner searching for truffles in his farm.

Truffles are wild mushrooms that grow underground. They are hard to find without the aid of a trained dog who can smell them.

For dinner, we were offered crostiniK with truffles on top. It was such a special treat that we couldn’t thank the family enough for their hospitality.
