Weekly Photo Challenge: Layers
I’m selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can’t handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best. – Marilyn Monroe
a woman is like a flower
she has many layers
you have to unwrap her
one petal at a time
to see what’s inside
the fountain of her pride
or she can be an onion
with many layers still
you try to peel her
and she makes you weep
even when you do it
gently with space to breathe
a woman is like a flower
she has many layers
that cover her like a shield
she’s hermetically encased
she reveals herself to no one
unless she’s handled with grace

Go Red For Women Today

The American Heart Association
The American Heart Association has made the first Frisday of every year as National Wear Red Day to bring awareness to heart disease that has become the number one killer of women. It’s only fitting and proper that we join the efforts to fight this deadly disease that kills half a million women every year.
By wearing red not only on the day designated, we will continue to honor those who inspite of having the disease continue to live productive lives. To all these exemplary women, I dedicate this poem by e.e. cummings.
i carry your heart with me by e.e. cummingsi carry your heart with me (i carry it in
my heart) i am never without it (anywhere
i go you go, my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)
i fear
no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) i want
no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is youhere is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars aparti carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)
Heads Up

A woman from Southern California had been accused of getting rid of her husband’s penis using a 10-inch knife after tying him up in bed as a safety precaution. The husband must have gone for it willingly. (I mean the tying not the cutting, silly). He must have thought of a special treat awaiting him that would spark their waning marriage. Either that or, as the police allege, she had spiced his dinner with an unknown substance to tame him and weaken his resistance. For now, nobody really knows. we’d have to wait for the National Enquirer to give us the lurid details in a coming edition.
In the meantime, the Orange County superior court has scheduled the woman’s arraignment for September with the bail set at $1 million. She’ll be formally charged with torture and aggravated mayhem. If convicted of all counts, she faces the possibility of life in prison without parole.
thanks, but no thanks

i’m sure glad the holiday gift-giving season is over. while it’s been good for business and it has helped the stores to stay afloat during this hard economic times, it has sank men into the throes of despair.
you see, if there’s something that gives a man the chills, it’s the idea of buying a present for a woman. it’s becoming to be an almost impossible task. it seems that whatever he gives her would end up in disappointment.
