A Valentine’s Wish

For Friday Fictioneers 100-Word Challenge: 12 February 2016

Today, I’d ask her to be my valentine. I find her in a wheelchair outside our building, by the water fountain, and basking in the springtime sun.
An auto accident just after high school had left her paralyzed from the waist down. Fortunately, she realized she could still breathe. It didn’t stop her from going to college and pursuing an IT career. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have met me. Ha. Ha. Ha.
Although she’d been sucker punched in life, she’d kept the grace and inner charm that make a woman a woman. Slowly, I approach her ever hopeful she’d say yes.
