It was early in the evening when the earthquake hit. It was so big that lights went out and buildings now lay in ruins with broken windows littering the streets.

The bridge he drove across every day had been closed. Trapped within the city’s confines, he found all the hotels fully booked for the night. It was in the dimly lit lobby of one such hotel that their paths converged.

In the flickering candlelight, there was an instant connection, bridging the gap between two strangers. Finding solace in each other‘s company, they fell in love. And the rest was history.

your photo reminded me of the loma prieta earthquake that jolted the san francisco bay area in 1989 that toppled a section of the bay bridge leaving me trapped in the city along with many others.

And from the rubble, love rises like a phoenix! I’m guessing you’ve been in an earthquake before? I never would have thought about shattered glass on the sidewalks. Plaridel, such a romantic story. I also like how one bridge was damaged but another was built.

Did you have to cross the bridge to get to the interview? 12th floor must have been so terrifying.

it happened about two hours after i crossed the bridge. i felt the building swaying left and right. never had that experience before. all the power went out, and i had to walk downstairs in the dark out to the street.

Love in the midst of troubles. I like it. I also like how you’ve used the ideas of connections and bridging gaps – the bridge and the meeting of the two characters. Very nice.
