The dance studio looked intimidating. Even more so for somebody who had two left feet.

He needed to learn how to dance for the upcoming prom. With all the courage he could muster, he knocked at the door. When it opened, the instructor greeted him warmly. She beckoned him to join the group of beginners gathered on the floor.

As the music began to play, he tentatively followed her lead. His movements were awkward and stiff at first. But with her gentle guidance and encouragement, he found himself gradually loosening up as he surrendered to the rhythm of the music.

We all have to start somewhere or we would never get going at all. Sounds like he’s taken more than just the first step!

so sweet. I asked my husband if he wanted to take dance lessons before our wedding and he said, “but I can’t dance.” I told him that was the point but he opted out. We just danced awkwardly at our wedding without a care. My niece and nephew had ballroom dancing at school in 5th grade which I think was so important. Besides being prom ready, it teaches composure, and confidence.

Going with the rhythm of the music is the best way to start, feeling it from within.
