When Adam announced he was leaving to pursue his dreams, his father didn’t take it well.
The old man wanted him to live a simple, contented life in the town where the family had lived for generations.
For him, it was too confining. He felt trapped like the dolphin in the stained glass window panel wanting to be free.
“Just call when you need a return ticket,” his father said when he couldn‘t be stopped.
“Thanks, Papa, I promise.”
It was a lie. After signing up on a one-way mission to populate Mars, Adam knew there was no turning back.

I liked how this ended, I am not sure if his father really understood the full impact of him moving to Mars. Sometimes I wish I could escape to Mars.

That’s a nice twist at the end. No too far fetched though considering the Mars One Mission plans to land humans there in 2031.

it looks like mars one has run out of funds. i believe humans will land in mars in our lifetime, though.
