Weekly Photo Challenge: Off-Season

Location: Santo Domingo Street, Pamplona, Spain
This is an off-season view of Santo Domingo Street in Pamplona, Spain. Snapped in early September, it was almost deserted.
It’s on this street where the tradition of running of the bulls starts and makes its way to the Plaza de Toros. Next month, tourists and revelers alike will invade Pamplona to watch or participate in the annual spectacle immortalized by Ernest Hemingway in his novel, The Sun Also Rises.
The running of the bulls called encierro coincides with the 9-day festival honoring the city’s patron saint, San Fermรญn, starting July 6th and ending July 14th. It’s complete with fireworks, music, dances, parade, bullfighting, and religious ceremonies. Considered the biggest public event in the world, it attracts a million attendees every year.
When everything is over and done, it must be with a sigh of relief that the local residents could reclaim their city back.

Great street shot. Looks like a peaceful place for a stroll this time of the year. I’m sure the running of the bulls brings with it it’s own energy to the city ๐
