Back in the day, Gramps used to sit on this chair. He looked so old with gray hair and all. Still, I adored him listening to his adventures and places he had been to when he was young.
Gramps was a smoker, a drinker, and a womanizer. Mom thought she was the only child only to find out that she had half-siblings. He was the complete opposite of Dad who was strict and a disciplinarian.
The chair belongs to me now but doesnโt have many interesting stories to tell to the kids. After all, I grew up taking after Dad.

An interesting contrast. Perhaps a halfway house between Dad and Gramps would be best!

I wonder what tales the kids will tell when they inherit the chair. Nice one.

Dear Plaridel.
Good character beats a good story any day. Nicely done.

Sounds like both Gramps and Dad had their failings. But then, don’t we all?
Took me a moment to figure out who was ‘he’ in the womaniser sentence; not a major issue but just I read it as Dad being the smoking, drinking disciplinarian, until I got to Mum’s siblings.

I wonder if Gramps wasn’t the reason Mom picked a husband that was quite the opposite. Can’t say I blame her!

she did for obvious reasons. ๐

There are many ways to have adventures. I’m sure his dad had a few as well and the older he grows, he’ll have his own. Very nostalgic!

I wonder what the young’ns will tell when it is their turn in the chair. Nice layered storytelling, Plaridel.
