It was the cabin in the woods that my high school buddies and I used to hang out.

Coming home from overseas, I decided to go there and reunite with them for old times’ sake. But only Jose was around to join me.

After graduation from high school, we went our separate ways. I went to college while Jose and the others stayed to work on their family farm.

After all these years, I noticed that Jose had changed and so did I. It must be true for the others too. We had nothing left in common but the memories.

Time sure changes people. Unless you stay in contact, share stories and experiences, it’s awkward when you see an old friend. You captured well in your story.

Poignant the memories especially when they are all that’s left.

    Dear Plaridel,

The one thing that’s constant is change. Nicely done. Love the ending line.

We all grow looking back at the childhood memories, but no matter how much we wish – we can never relive this days. Nicely told.

The old saying, “You can never go home again.” is often true. I don’t go to high school reunions for that reason. I like remembering who we all were ‘then’. No sense in disturbing that happiness. 😉

At least they had their memories. They serve as reminders of good times that can encourage us as we travel along our journey. Nice story, Plaridel!

Sometimes those memories are enough to start again, sometimes not. Hoping for the former for all of them, but if not, move on and create new ones with others… Nice slice of life story.

That’s why I never go to high school reunions. If the friendship isn’t solid enough to keep you in touch, it’s not a big loss. Good story.

It happens. We go from having much in common, to nothing but memories over time. I recently went to a reunion after 40 years and that was the case.

Memories can be good, but continuing friendship needs shared interests. Nice soliloquy Plaridel.
