Whenever Jason got home, he used to see the light outside the front door. Now it remained dark.

No matter how late he returned, Jason could always recall his mom waiting for him in the living room.

His mom greeted him one evening as usual and inquired how his day had gone.

“Mom, I’m tired,” he answered as he headed to his room and shut the door.

His mother’s sudden death made him realize how much she cared for and loved him.

“Mom,” he sobbed, looking at her in the open casket. “I’m so sorry for taking you for granted.”

It’s the way of it, unfortunately. We appreciate after they are gone…

    Dear Plaridel,

Touching story. I think most of take our parents, partners or friends for granted until we no longer have them. Human nature.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

Oh no. I understand beating oneself up for things undone and mistakes made. I hope one day he can forgive himself. I’m sure his mom does. Very relatable story, especially after having lost my mom last year.

Such a sad story and a good reminder to not take for granted those who love us most. The first two sentences are very powerful. Nicely done, Plaridel!
