For Friday Fictioneers 100-Word Challenge: 19 April 2019
I’m leaving for England later this week. As a result, I’ll be on hiatus in the next three weeks. Sorry, I may not be able to make comments or respond to your comments until I return. Take care.

The building looked rundown, but it was home for new refugees run by Catholic missionaries. It was here that Aras found his wife.
“Be careful,” he told Ariyah before she fled to the neighboring country.
One cold winter’s night, Aras headed towards the border to follow her wife. Shots rang out. Although he was hit several times, it didn‘t stop him from running.
Finally, he’d come face to face with his wife as she was doing her chores.
“Ariyah,” he cried. “I missed you so much.”
But Ariyah just ignored him. It was then that he realized he was dead.

i don’t know if it’s true but i read that when you die you remain the same person as when you’re alive.

This is such a sad story from the beginning, having to separate, flee their homes… and the ghostly ending makes it really heartbreaking. How many ghosts with similar stories are out there right now, I wonder.

i think thare are a lot of folks out there who don’t accept that they’re already dead and unwilling to cross over into the light. sorry for the late reply as i just got back from vacation. 🙂
